Lori Yarborough plays alto saxophone with the Auburn Concert Band. She joined this group at the end of the 2004/2005 season and initially played flute. During her second full year with the band, she saw a need in the saxophone section and volunteered to play the second alto sax part. The next year, the first alto sax player moved away, and Lori began playing the first alto part. She also assumed the duties of saxophone section leader. In addition to playing with the band, Lori served three years on the Auburn Concert Band Board of Directors from 2008-2010. She was the treasurer for one year and the secretary for two years.

 Lori also plays alto sax with the worship team at her church – Bayside Auburn. Lori has been involved with music and played in many bands through her elementary, high school and college school years. Lori holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from California State University, Chico and an associate’s degree in liberal arts from Sierra College in Rocklin. Lori grew up in Grass Valley and attended Nevada Union High School. She was a member of the Sacramento Freelancers Drum and Bugle Corps in 1988, where she played a soprano bugle.

 Lori lives in Auburn and works for the Placer County Department of Public Works as a transit analyst. She has been with Placer County 11 years. Before that she lived and worked in Truckee. Lori has one adult son, Jerrad, who joined the United States Army in 2011. In her spare time, Lori enjoys outdoor activities like hiking and kayaking.  She leads several hikes a month with a local hiking group.
