Gary Truesdail: Retired Music Educator-(37 years music, 10 years computer applications and computer programming), Clarinet Instructor - UC Davis, (4 years) and CSUS Sacramento (1 semester), Professional musician (1963-1990)-retired, musical instrument repairman, leader and music arranger for the River City Clarinet Quartet. He studied clarinet with Frank Silva and Fred Westpahl.
Mr. Truesdail was a clarinetist with the Sacramento Symphony and Music Circus Orchestra, 20 years; Freelon Bibbins Clarinet Trio, Jerome Rosen Clarinet Quartet Sacramento Woodwind Guild. Performed in backup bands/orchestras for Liberace, Ed Ames, Lola Falana, Jose Feliciano, Tom Jones, Art Pepper, Clyde McCoy, Ink Spots, Ames Brothers, Bob Hope, Mason Williams, Robert Goulet, Jim Nabors, Vikki Carr, John Davidson, Jimmy Dean, Marlene Dietrich, Mitzi Gaynor, Rowan and Martin, Connie Stevens, Phyllis Diller, Jan and Dean, Shields and Yarnel, Ice Follies, Disney on Ice, Sacramento Ballet Orchestra, Sacramento Civic Opera Company, Barnum-Baily Circus Orchestra.
Worked in bands of Erve Boschee, Derek Heine, Wally Grosser, Bill Rase, Eddie Halter, Geunter Gumnor, Sacramento Oktoberfest Band. Recorded with Jan and Dean, Bill Rase and The Warren Barker-Les Lehr Ragtime Concert Band. Played the USA premier of Star Wars Concert Version, conducted by John Williams when it was still in manuscript revision. Played the world premier performance of Quartet for Clarinets (using multiphonics) by Jerome Rosen. Did musical good will tours of Australia, New Zealand, China with local community bands. Current Conductor and Musical Director of the Auburn Concert Band. Guest conductor for Sacramento Valley Pops Orchestra and Sierra Nevada Winds and Auburn Symphony “Symphony Goes To School” school tours. Organized and conducted honor bands for the Grant High School District.
