
David Coe
is a resident of Wheatland, where was raised. He
holds a Bachelor of Music degree and teaching
credential from the Univeristy of the Pacific. He
has studied privately with John Bresnahan and Dr.
William Dominik on clarinet, and jazz legend Sonny
Stitt on saxophone. He has held music teaching
posistions with the Modesto City Schools, Yuba
College, Franklin Elementary School in Yuba City,
and Plumas Lake Elementary School District. He has
been a featured soloist on clarinet with the Yuba
Sutter Symphony, and the Sierra Nevada Winds, and on
saxophone with the Auburn Concert Band. He has
performed on clarinet and saxophone with a variety
of college, community, and professional performance
groups, including the Auburn Symphony, Camellia
Symphony, Borgamaria Lyric Opera, Swing Odyssey Big
Band, and the Fred Morgan Big Band. He
currently plays clarinet with the Wind Song woodwind
quintet, is principal clarinet with the Sierra
Nevada Winds, and plays alto saxophone with the
Auburn Concert Band. He serves on the Wheatland
City Council, and the Sierra Nevada Winds Orchestra
board of directors. He works with his wife Judy, an
accomplished flute player, at Buttes Insurance
Agency, which he owns jointly with his brother, and
is a band director at Riverside Meadows Intermediate
School in Plumas Lake. David and Judy have been
married for 27 years. They have three wonderful
children, all of whom are musically active.
He loves to hunt and flyfish in his spare time.
